Ryanair increases flights from Manchester

Post by © Cheapflights Ltd on Tuesday 18 December, 2007 in Ryanair

MilanIrish budget airline Ryanair is to offer new services from Manchester to Milan, Marseille, Girona and Bremen in 2008.

Ryanair has said it intends to increase its presence at the north-west airport, initially operating a total of 12 flights per week, the Manchester Evening News reports. The airline also intends to add four more routes from Manchester by June, and a further four in time for summer 2009.

This is the latest expansion announced for Manchester Airport; easyJet recently unveiled its plan to create a new base at the hub. It intends to station five aircraft there by 2010 and fly to Tenerife, Cyprus, Malta and Crete.

No-frills airlines now account for most of the passenger growth at Manchester Airport, with other carriers Jet2.com, bmibaby and Flybe also offering services. People using budget airlines now account for 23 per cent of the total, up from 11 per cent three years ago.

North America is well-served by airlines such as American Airlines, Continental Airlines, US Airways, Air Canada, Zoom, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic.
