Thomsonfly cuts Bournemouth Airport routes
November 29, 2007Thomsonfly is to cut five routes from Bournemouth Airport next summer, although it will begin two new ones.
When the airline's summer schedule begins on May 1, flights to Alicante, Pisa, Salzburg, Tenerife and Valencia will come to an end, because of a lack of customer demand.
The new flights are to Dalaman, a gateway to many popular Turkish resorts, and Heraklion on the Greek island of Crete.
These changes mean that Thomsonfly will operate only one Boeing 737 aircraft from Bournemouth in the summer, instead of the current two. The other destinations that will be on offer are Faro, Ibiza, Malaga, Palma (Majorca) and Paphos.
A spokeswoman for Bournemouth Airport pointed out that, because Alicante, Pisa and Tenerife are served by other airlines from the Dorset hub (Ryanair and Palmair), there will be no net loss in terms of the number of destinations on offer to passengers. Dalaman and Crete will replace Salzburg and Valencia.
Thomsonfly said that it would be contacting any travellers affected by the schedule changes.
Bournemouth Airport is located around five miles to the north-east of the town centre.

What a shame that Thomsonfly is reducing services from BOH. Interesting to note that there is no mention of the cut of Amsterdam from the services. When airlines are looking at increasing services from regional airports why is Thomsonfly reducing aircraft (from two to one) at BOH?
Bristol and Exeter are expanding well with airlines! Yes, Ryanair has services to Alicante and Pisa, but we need more choice from BOH so that we don't have the crazy hike up the M3 to London airports!
