Fuel surcharge increased by Air France

Air France is to increase the fuel surcharge on all flights booked from today (November 14), but will look to cut the fee if the price of oil drops.

The airline has said that its surcharge will increase by €2 per flight on routes to short and medium haul destinations, while €10 will be added to each segment of long haul routes.

But Air France has said that half of these increases will be withdrawn as soon as the price of the barrel is stabilized over time below $85, with the remaining half cut should the price slip under $80 a barrel.

Air France joins a number of airlines that have increased fuel surcharges. For example, British Airways has recently raised its fuel surcharge by £10-£15, announcing that it anticipates a total fuel bill for this year of more than £2 billion.
