Flybe to cut back Norwich flights
November 14, 2007Low-cost operator Flybe is to end four flights from Norwich International Airport, claiming a levy being applied on passengers makes its flights too expensive.
The BBC website reports that the £3 Airport Development Fee (ADF) was introduced in April to raise £5m to invest in facilities, but Flybe has said that it is being forced to end three flights to Spain and one to Exeter because of the levy.
A Flybe spokesperson said demand for the flights had fallen by more than 15 per cent, although Norwich Airport bosses said that passengers realise the fee is being used to improve facilities and in reality Flybe was "having problems competing with Ryanair at Stansted".
