Flyglobespan has announced the start of a service between Bristol International Airport and Toronto, with the first flight set to take off next summer.
The airline will launch a weekly flight, operating Mondays, on May 26 and offer travellers a link to Toronto's Hamilton Airport with return tickets starting from £315.
Tom Dalrymple, Flyglobespan chairman, said: "We are delighted to be offering passengers from Bristol this flight to Toronto. We know the market in Canada very well and this knowledge, combined with our ability to offer great fares, gives us a great product that I think will be well-received by our customers."
Bosses at Bristol Airport have found that Canadian destinations are high on the wish list of passengers and hope that this new route will prove popular.
Bristol Airport's Tony Hallwood said: "Securing a second transatlantic service is fantastic news and underlines Bristol International’s long-haul credentials. Canada is one of the destinations most frequently requested by our passengers, so we are delighted to be able to deliver a weekly service to Toronto with Flyglobespan, commencing in May."
The Bristol region is also hoping to benefit from the arrival of visitors from Canada as they are in the top ten for visitor spend in the UK, with the tourist industry hoping to attract more holidaymakers to the area.
