Thomsonfly cancels Coventry to Barcelona flights
October 29, 2007Thomsonfly has announced that it will cancel its Coventry to Barcelona winter service.
Citing competition from other airports in the region, the carrier will discontinue its flights between the two cities from this week, with the final service taking off on Thursday (November 1).
A spokeswoman said that the route would not operate over the winter months but that it may be reinstated next year.
She told icCoventry: "We apologise to anyone who may have been inconvenienced by this decision, which was taken as a result of a significant increase in the number of competing services on the Barcelona route from other Midlands airports.
"The route has been discontinued for the winter flying season, but the situation will be reviewed for the summer season."
She also said that the cancellation is not anticipated to have knock-on effects on other Thomsonfly routes.
The airline also operates scheduled flights to Alicante, Amsterdam, Faro, Grenoble, Ibiza, Jersey, Malaga, Palma, Paris (Orly), Pisa, Salzburg and Valencia from Coventry Airport.
