Changes to British Airways' timetable announced
September 19, 2007British Airways is to take advantage of the Open Skies agreement between the US and Europe to revamp its flights across the Atlantic.
The airline's daily flight to Dallas Fort Worth and twice a day service to Houston will move from Gatwick to Heathrow airport from March 30, 2008.
In addition, the airline will increase the frequency of its flights from Heathrow to New York JFK, Seattle and Washington and from Gatwick to Orlando. But to accommodate this, from March 30 flights between Heathrow and Detroit will be suspended.
A little closer to home, British Airways will operate flights to Algiers from Heathrow and its Warsaw flights will move from Heathrow to Gatwick, with both changes effective from March 30, 2008.
In addition, there will be a new short-haul route with daily flights from Gatwick to Genoa starting on April 4, 2008.
From October 28 passengers travelling from Heathrow to Harare with British Airways will be routed via Johannesburg and then on to Harare with its franchise partner Comair. Direct services to Harare from Heathrow will be suspended from the same date.
Robert Boyle, British Airways' commercial director, said: "We're taking advantage of the opportunities provided by Open Skies to further enhance our market leading network from London to the United States. Next summer, we will offer our customers 41 daily flights to 18 destinations across the US."

It is truly outrageous that BA has decided to move the flights from Warsaw to Gatwick. It just boggles my mind how on earth all the passengers from Warsaw will be able to transfer to their conneceting flights to other worldwide destinations.
BA seems to forget that Warsaw is one of the European capitals and not a provincial city. This is definitely a thoughtless decision and I am sure it will be opposed by most passengers. The only possible solution would be to introduce the new flights between Warsaw and London Gatwick and keep the 3 daily frequencies between Warsaw and Heathrow.
Luckily, there is still LOT Polish Airlines flying into Heathrow.

This is a very bad news that BA is moving its Warsaw-London flights from Heathrow to Gatwick. I will have to fly Polish Airlines LOT instead.

BA arrogance at abandoning the Heathrow-Warsaw link. Gatwick is useless for most. After building up Executive Club loyalty, it's now time to switch this to LOT.

The decision to move BA flights to Algiers from Gatwick to Heathrow is great news and a very smart decision. BA will be able to capture a large worldwide clientele who used to avoid BA because of the need to change airports in transit to Algiers. Excellent decision BA!

This is outrageous. There are thousands of Poles who frequently fly between London and Warsaw. Has anyone at BA thought this through properly? Warsaw is the gataway for many destinantions across the world and Heathrow was the perfect connection place. This move will kill many possibilities for thousands of people from Poland and other Eastern European countries. Is this the new idea for "new and closer Europe"?

I live in the West Country, LHR is easily accessible for me. I frequently fly to Warsaw for weekends. Getting to Gatwick after work will be extremely difficult. There are a lot of Poles in the West Country and getting flights from Bristol is not always possible as they do not fly every day. Changing to Gatwick will inconvenience many people and BA will lose business.

I was looking forward to arriving at the lavish new Terminal 5 but now I'll either have to fly LOT (no in-flight whisky and ginger ale or London Pride!) or go via Gatwick.
I think it's a slap in the face to all Poles who come to the UK that they won't have the chance to experience the new terminal.
I wonder which other European capitals are not connected to LHR.
