Qantas introduces 'Buy Now, Pay Later' ticketing
July 31, 2007Australian national airline Qantas has announced a new payment method that will allow passengers to defer payment when they book online.
Available to those buying international tickets, The Book Now Pay Later feature on www.qantas.com will give travellers more flexibility by letting them pay closer to their departure date.
To secure a booking, passengers will be charged a holding fee of A$25 (£10.60). They will then be told when the full payment is due, and the holding fee will be refunded following this payment. Alternatively, customers can choose to pay immediately as normal.
"Customers can now plan their travel on www.qantas.com in advance by booking their flight to ensure they don't miss out on the flight they want, and then having the option of paying for it later when their travel plans are further finalised," said Qantas' Rob Gurney.
The availability of this feature will depend on the fare type and the length of time left until departure.
Last week Qantas launched an updated version of its kangaroo logo, with a sleeker and more contoured design.
The logo was first introduced by the airline in 1944, and was subsequently updated in 1947, 1968, 1984 and now 2007.
