Lufthansa links UK with Karachi
July 31, 2007UK passengers will be able to benefit from a new link to Pakistan when Lufthansa resumes flights to Karachi on October 28. The German flag-carrier will operate non-stop flights to Pakistan's largest city three times a week from Frankfurt, with British passengers able to connect from flights from the UK.
"We expect a solid market growth in Pakistan and by that a further demand on this connection," said Lufthansa spokesman Dr Karl-Rudolf Rupprecht.
The link is likely to be popular with business travellers as Karachi is Pakistan's traditional commercial centre, with a population of around 13 million.
Flights from Frankfurt to Karachi cost from €639 (£431), including taxes and charges. Lufthansa will also begin flights to Lahore, capital of the Punjab.
Lufthansa flies from London Heathrow, London City Airport, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle and Edinburgh.
