EasyJet to introduce healthy Food Doctor snacks
May 30, 2007Budget airline easyJet is set to introduce health snacks from The Food Doctor onboard all its flights from this week.
Get Set Bars, Original Seed Sachets and Soya Nuts will all be available so that travellers have healthier options available to them when they take flights with the orange-liveried carrier.
Currently easyJet - which makes a large portion of its money by selling ancillary services such as in-flight food - offers crisps, chocolate and pre-packed sandwiches.
The new products, containing ingredients such as oats, quinoa, dates and sunflower seeds, are high in protein, fibre and essential fatty acids, but low in carbohydrates. They will be advertised using the strapline: "Since you are in the air, why not eat like a bird?"
The Food Doctor believes that "correct nutrition is the cornerstone to good health and vitality" and managing director Michael da Costa noted that both his company and easyJet are "committed to providing the best possible consumer offering".
Along with Ryanair, easyJet is one of Europe's two largest low-cost airlines and operates more than 280 routes around the continent.
