New mobile flight detail service launches

A new free service has been launched to help air passengers keep track of whether their flight is on time or not.

The service covers all major UK airports and airlines, including British Airways, easyJet and Ryanair, and has been introduced by Leeds-based StreamThru.

By registering at www.streamthru.com, passengers can choose to receive information about their flight number and flight times on the day of travel, as well as boarding times, departure gates and details of any delays there may be.

A SMS message is sent a few hours before the scheduled departure time, confirming flight details and giving potential delay information. Then a reminder of flight details and boarding information is sent 30 minutes before departure.

Travellers also receive two exclusive retail offers that can be used in their airport.

According to a survey conducted by Mantic Point, the company behind StreamThru, around one in every four flights taken by UK passengers is delayed - meaning that the average passenger spends around 46 days waiting for a flight over the course of a lifetime.

"To help combat this, StreamThru is a free service that is the first in the country to offer travellers SMS flight updates to their mobiles on the day they travel, as well as updates on boarding times and departure gates when actually at the airport," said Mantic Point managing director Mike Atherton.
