Continental to increase links from Scotland to New York
March 22, 2007Continental Airlines is to increase the frequency of its flights between Scotland and New York this summer.
From May 4, flights from Edinburgh to New York Newark Airport will increase to twice daily and those from Glasgow will depart 11 times a week, the Travelmole website reports.
The airline's UK and Ireland senior director, Bob Schumacher, noted that "the additional services will make it more convenient than ever for the Scottish business and leisure traveller to access not only New York, but the whole of America from both Edinburgh and Glasgow".
On October 28 the airline will return to a winter timetable and flights from both Scottish cities to the Big Apple will return to once daily.
Newark Airport (or Newark Liberty International Airport) is located around 15 miles from the centre of New York City, with a train linking it to Manhattan.
Continental has also launched a helicopter service that can take passengers from Newark to central New York in just eight minutes.
Besides Edinburgh and Glasgow, the airline also flies to London Gatwick, Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham and Belfast.
