Website link-up between Aer Lingus and JetBlue
February 7, 2007An agreement has been reached between Aer Lingus and US low-cost operator Jet Blue that will mean passengers heading to the States can easily book onward flights.
The link-up will allow customers of one airline to easily link through to the website of the other whilst booking tickets, although the alliance is not a traditional code-share, which would allow the seamless sale of tickets.
But Aer Lingus chief executive Dermot Mannion believes offering a link between the two airlines will bring real benefits.
“It changes the face of access to North America for the Irish travelling public," said Dermot Mannion.
"It will also expose millions of US passengers to the Aer Lingus website and brand, and further consolidate aerlingus.com as the premier way to book flights to Ireland from North America."
Aer Lingus has been keen to establish itself as a low-cost airline, it is set to leave the oneworld alliance later this year, as it faces stiff competition from Ryanair on its European routes.
Its alliance with JetBlue is set to come into operation by the end of the summer.

I am very excited about the Aer Lingus/JetBlue connection. I have never flown Aer Lingus but know the quality service JetBlue provides customers. For alLow-cost carrier it is a wonderful airline. I am looking foward to the options this agreement will offer for those of us in the US.
I have been to the UK several times but have not visited Ireland... this may be my chance to both see the beautiful country and fly Aer Lingus.
