bmibaby to fly Birmingham to Jersey
February 16, 2007No-frills airline bmibaby will begin a new route from Birmingham to Jersey as part of an expansion drive at the West Midlands airport.
From May 24, flights will operate four times a week, on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, with the frequency likely to increase to twice daily over the coming 12 months.
Prices will begin at £24.99 one-way, including taxes. This is 40 per cent lower than the current lowest lead-in price offered by a rival airline on the route, bmibaby notes.
The low-coster is also ramping up the frequency of its flights from Birmingham to Edinburgh and Glasgow, as a result of "overwhelming" passenger demand. Five Edinburgh flights and four Glasgow flights will operate every day, with prices starting at £18.99 (one-way, including taxes).
Having begun operating from Birmingham International in January 2005, bmibaby has expanded rapidly and now flies to 21 destinations across Europe.
The airline will base an additional Boeing 737 at the airport, bringing the total to nine, and bmibaby marketing director David Hodge said there are "more exciting initiatives in the pipeline over the next few months".
