Long-haul passengers to get The Sims
September 26, 2006In-flight entertainment is set to be revolutionised with the introduction of Electronic Arts games such as The Sims 2.
The video game publisher has formed a partnership with entertainment provider DTI Software to provide games to more than 60 airlines.
Electronic Arts, one of the largest gaming companies in the world, has enjoyed huge success with The Sims series and its introduction onto lengthy flights is sure to be welcomed by passengers wanting new ways to pass the time.
Also available through the partnership will be titles such as Poppit, Harvest Mania, Tumble Bees and others casual games released under the Pogo.com brand.
"The Sims and Pogo.com are two of the most recognised brands in the game world," said DTI Software's executive vice-president, Louis Belanger-Martin. "We are very enthusiastic about bringing the EA brand to in-flight passengers."
In-flight entertainment on long-haul flights has improved a great deal in recent years. Where passengers used to have just a single screen at the front of the cabin and a set of earphones, most large airlines now offer personal TVs for each passenger.
Cathay Pacific, Virgin Atlantic, Singapore Airlines and Emirates are among those airlines that offer personal TVs across their entire fleets.
