Flybe unveils Southampton to Nice route
September 26, 2006Low-cost airline Flybe is to begin another new route from its hub at Southampton, this time to Nice on the French Riviera.
The new link will begin operating from March next year and will continue the Exeter-based airline's rapid growth plan, TravelMole reports.
"The announcement of a new base in Nice is one of our most important to date, demonstrating our aggressive policy in the UK and across Europe," said Mike Rutter, Chief Commercial Officer.
The news comes soon after the announcement of another new route from Southampton to Galway in the west of Ireland, due to begin in December (see Flybe to fly from Southampton to Galway).
Flybe flies to more than 30 destinations across the UK and Europe from Southampton, including Malaga, Amsterdam, Faro, Chambery and Glasgow. It also operates from other regional UK airports such as Inverness, Doncaster, Norwich, Newquay and Bristol.
The airline has started selling discounted tickets as part of its "Summer '07 Sun" sale, with tickets priced from £19.99 one-way (inclusive of taxes and charges).
