Dublin expansion and seat sale from Ryanair
September 5, 2006Ryanair has announced new routes and increased frequencies from Dublin Airport that will come into effect in summer 2007.
The airline has also announced a new sale of four million "free" (pay the taxes and charges only) seats.
The Irish carrier will begin flying from Dublin to Stockholm and the Canary Islands next year and will increase the frequency of flights to Berlin, Rome, Malaga and Faro.
From Dublin to Berlin and Rome, flights will increase from daily to twice daily. To Malaga, flights will increase from five per week to eight per week and to Faro they will go from three per week to seven per week.
Ryanair has also received permission from the Maltese authorities to begin flights from the Irish capital to Malta, which will begin in February 2007.
The airline announced that it carried four million passengers last month (August) – which, it noted, is more than British Airways and half the number that Irish national airline Aer Lingus carries in a year.
To mark the record, Ryanair is offering four million "free" seats to destinations across Europe. Flights are available from many UK airports including Stansted, Liverpool, Gatwick, Birmingham and Edinburgh. Passengers just need to pay the taxes and charges, which usually amount to between £13 and £16.
The booking period runs until Monday, September 11, for travel between September 19 and March 24. Block off days are as follows: October 20 to November 6; December 20 to January 9; February 16 to February 27; and March 15 to March 20.
