Airline hits the screens once more
September 13, 2006
© easyJetAirline, the TV programme that traces the trials and tribulations of low-cost airline easyJet, is back on UK screens.
The tenth series of the successful fly-on-the-wall documentary began on Friday (September 8) and this run will see the programme reach its 100th episode.
easyJet's tenth anniversary is also celebrated during this series and, in one episode, passengers are asked to suggest fancy dress outfits for staff members to wear to the party.
The programme's first series began in 1998 and featured Britannia Airways, replaced by easyJet in 1999. Originally narrated by Blackadder actor Tony Robinson, the docu-soap follows the everyday problems encountered by airline staff as they try to make things run smoothly.
In 2003 it pulled in some 75 million viewers and was the most popular factual programme on ITV.
Events that have been captured in Airline include important real-life moments, including wedding proposals.
The programme also aims to educate passengers about regulations concerning prohibited items and travel documentation.
