Air France video condemns sex tourism
September 18, 2006Passengers travelling on long-haul flights with Air France from October will be shown a 90-second film on child prostitution in an attempt to curb sex tourism.
The film, which has been created with the assistance of French charity ECPAT, shows young girls in hotels and discos with graphics highlighting their ages: “13 years”, “16 years”. Then, as police burst into a bedroom the scene changes to show a photograph of a man, with his eyes blacked out, and “10 years” displayed to highlight the man’s prison sentence.
Around 46,000 travellers a day will see the film when it is played on nearly 100 long-haul flights and Air France will use posters and brochures in its ticket offices and airport counters to inform people about the ECPAT campaign.
Carole Bartoli, ECPAT programme coordinator, said: “Information campaigns play a key role in the fight against sex tourism involving children.
“We can only really tackle this problem by combining different actions to help these children, imposing stricter penalties on offenders and increasing awareness among key players of the implications of the sexual exploitation of children around the world.”
