July 4, 2006Low-cost airline Monarch is to launch two new routes from London Luton Airport next summer, to Ibiza and Almeria.
The five-times weekly link to Ibiza will begin on May 24, 2007 with tickets priced from £39.99 one-way. It will operate on Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The Almeria route will begin on May 3 and will operate four times a week, on Monday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Tickets will cost from £44.99 one-way.
Meanwhile, the airline's service to Palma and Faro will increase next summer. Nine flights a week will take off to Palma, with prices beginning at £39.99 one-way, and flights to Faro will take off daily, again priced from £39.99 one-way.
In order to cope with the new routes, Monarch is to add a new Airbus A320 aircraft to its fleet at Luton as part of a £30 million expansion.
Airline managing director Tim Jeans said: "Luton has been Monarch's home base for almost 40 years and our expansion here is good news as it provides people with a real choice of airline and our trademark service – which our passengers love."
