Beat the heat with Heathrow Connect
July 25, 2006With the UK set to be sweltering as another heatwave hits the country, travellers using the Heathrow Connect train service to reach the west London airport will be glad it maintains a temperature of between 18C and 21C.
Claiming to be "the coolest way to start your holiday", the half-hourly service is ensuring that passengers remain comfortable and cool as the weather outside stays hot and humid. Unlike the Tube trains, Heathrow Connect has brand new air conditioning systems in place.
"On Heathrow Connect we put customer comfort first," said customer services manager David Wornham. "As our trains have only just celebrated their first anniversary, we can honestly say that our air conditioning units are some of the newest on any train in the country."
Heathrow Connect trains take 25 minutes to reach the airport from Paddington, stopping at Ealing Broadway, West Ealing, Hanwell, Southall and Hayes along the way. A single ticket from Paddington costs £9.50.
Other public transport links to Heathrow include the London Underground Piccadilly Line, but the coolness of Heathrow Connect is sure to appeal to those wanting to beat the heat.
"Keeping our trains at a cool 21 degrees means our passengers only have to put up with steamy temperatures if they're flying off to a tropical island," Wornham said.
