Virgin Atlantic attracts business travellers
June 29, 2006New figures show that business travellers are increasingly choosing Virgin Atlantic for long-haul flights.
The airline carried a record number of passengers in 2005/6 – a total of 4.9 million, up 11 per cent on the previous year's figures, with the airline's Upper Class Suite helping produce a 10.1 per cent increase in business travellers.
Chief executive Steve Ridgway said the airline's business class offerings had helped it perform well.
"Virgin Atlantic's pioneering style of service continues to attract many new travellers," he said. "Our award-winning service is encouraging more business travellers to switch from other airlines."
The increase in passenger numbers led to record sales at Virgin Atlantic, which trickled down to company staff who took home a bonus equivalent to two weeks' pay.
Meanwhile, travellers have until tomorrow to take advantage of Virgin Atlantic's seat sale on flights to Sydney. For departures between August 15 and September 30, and between October 22 and November 30, sale tickets can be purchased for £679, including taxes and fees.
