Nottingham East Midlands gears up for World Cup
June 5, 2006Good news for football fans – new 42-inch plasma screens have been put in place at Nottingham East Midlands Airport so that travellers don't miss any World Cup action.
The airport estimates that around 7,500 people will be passing through the facilites to fly to Germany with easyJet and Ryanair during the month of the World Cup.
They, and the other 240,000 passengers using Nottingham East Midlands, will be able to watch all the latest developments on the new big screens, located in the departure lounge's Three Cities Bar.
A new stall has also been erected, where fans can pick up merchandise such as England flags, hats and banners.
However, airport managers stressed that those not interested in football would be able to escape the mayhem at various quiet areas and travellers will have the opportunity to win a plasma TV and other prizes.
Other airports are gearing up for the World Cup, too. At Heathrow Terminals 3 and 4, football fans can buy the brand new England away shirt, for £29.78 tax-free.
