MAXjet set to increase transatlantic service
June 29, 2006
Business class transatlantic airline MAXjet is planning a new route between London and the US, which will add to its existing services from Stansted to New York and Washington.
The airline, which offers business class seats at a relatively low price, has enjoyed high load factors and carried almost 4,000 passengers to New York in May this year.
It has taken delivery of a third jet to cater for increasing demand and is negotiating deals for numbers four and five.
"With the delivery of our fourth aircraft this year, we are planning to add a new London to US route, which will be announced in the near future," said MAXjet chief executive Gary Rogliano.
The airline is also planning to increase its Washington service, initially launched at the end of February, to five flights per week.
MAXjet goes against the grain by offering business class service combined with lower-cost fares. Rogliano says that the airline offers long-haul business flights for 50 to 70 per cent less than the average market cost.
