Wizz Air increases Eastern Europe presence
May 3, 2006Wizz Air is continuing its expansion across Europe with the announcement of a new route between Katowice and Hamburg/Lubeck Airport.
The low-cost airline will expand its route network by flying three times a week between the Polish city and Hamburg, beginning from September 18.
Seats cost from €29.99 one-way, including taxes and charges and can be booked online or over the phone.
Just last month Wizz Air announced it was to begin flights between Cork and Katowice; and this link to Hamburg will be the carrier’s tenth service between Germany and Poland.
Wizz Air chief executive Jozsef Varadi said: "We continue our expansion on the Polish market by adding 50 per cent more capacity this summer compared to the same period last year and introducing a number of new flights.
"We are very pleased that we can offer a new flight from Katowice, our first and largest base and link it with a historically close region of Schleswig-Holstein."
Katowice is notable for its art nouveau buildings, cathedral and Spodek sports centre that looks like a flying saucer.
