Skip check-in at Nottingham with easyJet
March 14, 2006Passengers travelling light with easyJet from Nottingham East Midlands Airport can now skip check-in by printing off their boarding passes from home.
easyJet claims to be the first low-cost airline offering online check-in from the Midlands hub.
The facility enables passengers without hold luggage to print out their boarding passes when they book their flights. Those using the system just have to show up at the boarding gates 15 minutes before their flight takes off.
easyJet has pledged to make online check-in available to 90 per cent of its UK passengers by April after debuting the service at Stansted, Gatwick and Edinburgh last month.
The no-frills airline claims its facility has two advantages over rivals that have already introduced the service.
Firstly, it points out that the online check-in schemes of some other airlines stipulate that passengers can only print out their boarding passes immediately before travel.
And secondly, easyJet claims its 15-minute gate arrival time is more generous than any other airline.
Budget airline Ryanair also intends to introduce online check-in facilities from the summer (see Web check-in to trial in January).
