MyTravel begins China package tours
March 22, 2006People wanting to save money on their trips to the Far East will benefit from new package tours to China, to be run by UK tour operator MyTravel.
The Manchester-based company said its Airtours operation would begin selling the tours, to the beach resort of Sanya on the tropical island of Hainan, from next week.
Sanya is notable as being the venue for the last three Miss World finals.
Flights will take 15 hours, including a two-hour stopover in Bahrain.
Steve Barrass, managing director of Airtours, told the Manchester Evening News: "We are making what is still one of the world's most intriguing destinations accessible to all."
And pointing out that Airtours has added package tours to destinations such as Brazil and Cuba in recent years, he added: "The package holiday is evolving. Charter holidays to China clearly show just how much."
China is growing quickly as a popular tourist destination. According to figures from the Association of British Travel Agents, the number of British tourists visiting China rose from 61,000 in 1996 to 212,000 in 2004.
