Medical alert forces jet to divert
March 19, 2006Jet2.com has issued a warning to all air travellers after one of its flights had to be diverted when a passenger became ill.
On a flight from Alicante to Leeds Bradford a lady in her sixties complained of chest pains, but her medication was in a suitcase within the jet’s hold, so the pilot took the decision to divert to Bournemouth.
Flight attendants took care of the lady whilst in the air and an ambulance was waiting on the runway to take the lady to hospital, but Jet2.com are advising passengers to plan ahead if they have medical problems.
"We understand our customer is feeling much better today and we wish her a speedy, full recovery," a spokesperson for Jet2.com said.
"However, it is a timely reminder for any traveller on medication to keep their prescriptions in their carry-on luggage so that it is accessible at all times.
"It is also worth keeping a Doctor's note with the medication so that it can be properly administered."
