Free tickets if you name a plane
January 31, 2006Cornish travellers should get their thinking caps on fast if they want to win free tickets with Air Southwest.
Whoever comes up with the best name for its new Dash 8-300 aircraft – due to be delivered in February - will be rewarded with four return tickets to any destination the budget airline serves from Newquay.
The aircraft was ordered to support its new Newquay to Cardiff service, beginning on April 10.
Air Southwest also flies from Newquay to Gatwick, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Dublin and Bristol.
But you've only got until February 10 to enter your suggestions. Anyone opting for the standard 'Jimbo' may be disappointed, however, as the judges are placing a premium on originality.
"People can come up with anything they like but ideally we'd like something that captures the spirit of Cornwall," advises Malcolm Naylor, Air Southwest's chief executive.
Newquay Airport will be glad to get a vote of confidence from a no-frills airline after coming under heavy fire from Ryanair last year.
The Irish low-cost airline pulled one of its two daily flights between Newquay and Stansted in November following a spat over the introduction of a £5 departure tax.
