Crew asked not to wear crucifixes on flights
January 9, 2006Airline staff on BMI flights to Saudi Arabia are being told not to wear crucifixes or St Christopher medals so as not to offend the country’s Muslims.
Stewardesses are also being asked to wear long abaya robes when out in public and are being advised to wear a headscarf.
An airline spokesman told the Telegraph that if any member of staff did not want to adhere to the request they would be able to work on short haul flights, without any impact on wages.
