More passengers choosing Air France-KLM
September 8, 2005An increasing number of passengers flew with Air France and KLM last month.
The airlines, which merged last year to form the world's largest airline group, carried a combined total of 6.5 million passengers in July.
This represents a 7.1 per cent increase on the same month last year, suggesting that service has improved now that the merger has had time to take effect.
Flights to far-flung destinations were extremely popular last month, with the airlines filling over 80 per cent of seats on inter-continental flights.
The USA and Canada saw the biggest surge in demand, with flights from Europe to North America over 90 per cent full.
Despite the increasing competition from no-frills airlines in Europe, passengers are still choosing to fly with traditional airlines such as Air France and KLM, with 76.2 per cent of seats on European flights filled.
Both airlines have begun a number of new flights over the last years, but both will be encouraged that their existing routes continue to be extremely popular.
Air France and KLM have both sought to improve their customer services and offer a larger number of last-minute flight deals for customers booking online.
KLM has also recently launched an improved online booking service enabling customers to find the cheapest fares, print out their tickets and check-in from the comfort of their homes.
