Givenchy pyjamas for passengers
September 27, 2005With airlines battling it out to attract first-class passengers, Singapore Airlines has come up with a novel new idea - designer sleepware.
The airline has teamed up with French couture fashion house Givenchy to offer first-class passengers a more comfortable flight.
Givenchy has designed a special sleeping suit for all first-class passengers which will be provided free of charge on all Singapore Airlines flights to and from London, Shanghai, Beijing and Sydney.
The suits are designed to provide maximum comfort for passengers, while being stylish enough to wear once passengers arrive at their destination.
They feature a v-neck collar with half zippers, as well as trendy cuffed sleeves and flared pants. Passengers have a choice of either light or dark grey, with the suits coming in four sizes.
"We want our passengers to feel as comfortable and at ease onboard our flights as they would at home and these new sleeper suits allow them to do just that," explained the airline's vice-president of inflight services, Betty Wong.
Singapore Airlines is exploring the possibility of further fashion-related perks for its premium passengers through its deal with Givenchy.
The new sleep suits are the latest example of airlines teaming up with the fashion world. Earlier this year, Virgin Atlantic signed a deal with Saville Row designer Oswald Boateng to provide toilet bags and accessories for its first- and business-class passengers.
British Airways is also looking to cater to the fashion-conscious traveller, commissioning leading British interior designer Kelly Hoppen to redesign its new first-class cabins on all trans-Atlantic flights.
