Read up on your destination with Virgin Atlantic
August 30, 2005Virgin Atlantic has announced a new partnership with travel book publisher Rough Guides enabling passengers to read up on their holiday destinations before they arrive.
The deal will enable Virgin passengers to access material from all Rough Guides written about destinations served by the airline.
Passengers will have access to the material from their personal in-flight entertainment systems on all planes fitted with the v:port entertainment system.
The content will include accommodation guides and detailed descriptions of the major cities and sights in each destination country as well as detailed cultural and historical backgrounds.
As well as providing detailed written information, Virgin will offer passengers the choice of 25 Rough Guides World Music CDs in-flight, featuring local music from all of its destination nations.
The deal will also see Rough Guide libraries introduced in all Virgin lounges.
Rough Guides are currently available on three Virgin planes and will be extended across the fleet during September.
Virgin is hopeful that all passengers will have access to the Rough Guides services as well as others offered by the v:port system within the next 12 months.
